Russia: realization of massive grain interventions may increase the rate of grain exports – I.Shestakov
Realization of massive grain interventions may cause increasing the volume of grain exports from Russia, declared Ilya Shestakov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, on December 13.
He also reminded that recently the rates of grain exports from Russia somewhat slowed, but still remained high enough.
I.Shestakov also reminded that only to flour milling enterprises and forage producers are entitled to participate in the public grain interventions, which limits grain traders from realization of significant grain export volumes.
At the same time, the need for holding of large-scale public interventions, which the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has to begin in February-March of 2013, is retained as the price for grains on the domestic market continues growing.
In order to avoid increasing of the export volumes, it will be necessary to monitor the prices, that they to not become attractive for the exports, he said.
While speaking about the current price situation on the grain market of Russia, I.Shestakov called it quite complicated.
In the European part of Russia the prices already exceeded the psychological mark of 10`000 RUR/t for 3- and 4-grade wheat, and the prices were rising almost steadily by 2% every week. If such dynamics remains, the prices can reach sufficiently serious indicators, concluded the Deputy Minister, adding that the Ministry expects that the public interventions will assist reducing the price.
