Ukraine: Odessa Sea Commercial Port increased grain shipment by 2.8 mln tonnes
In 2012 Odessa Sea Commercial Port processed 24.5 mln tonnes of cargoes, a decrease of 1.1 mln tonnes compared with the final index in 2011, declared the press-service of the port on January 3.
According to the announcement, lowering of the cargo turnover was caused by the sharp drop of shipment of petroleum and petroleum products (down 3.4 mln tonnes compared with 2011), due to reorientation of some part of the cargo transit to the Russian ports.
The absolute achievement of the last year is the new record index of dry cargo shipment volumes - 18.04 mln tonnes (up 2.2 mln tonnes compared with 2011).
Grain cargoes formed one third of the general processed dry cargoes - 6.1 mln tonnes of grains in bulk (up 2.8 mln tonnes compared with 2011). The press-service of the Odessa Port noted that it is the highest index of grain processing during recent 10 years.
