Ukraine: in 2013, the harvest of wheat and barley can match the level of 2011 – Ukrainian Grain Association
In 2013, under favorable weather conditions Ukraine may form the production volumes of wheat and barley at the level of 2011, declared Vladimir Klimenko, President of Ukrainian Grain Association, on January 9.
V.Klimenko said that due to adverse weather conditions, in 2012 Ukrainian agrarians did not receive nearly 8 mln tonnes of wheat.
The President of Ukrainian Grain Association also said that in 2013 Ukraine may increase the production of maize to 25 mln tonnes, as opposed to 21 mln tonnes in 2012.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, which caused reduction of grain production in 2012/13 MY, according to data of the USDA, Ukraine occupied the 11th position on grain production in the world (46 mln tonnes) and the 8th position on grain exports (nearly 21 mln tonnes, according to forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy).
