Ukraine to increase planted areas of agricultural crops in 2013 - Ministry of Agrarian Police and Food
On December 25, 2013 the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine stated that in 2013 the country will increase the agricultural crops planted areas by 1% - to 19.4 mln ha as opposed to 19.2 mln ha year before.
As it is stated the share of grains planted areas to total 63% or 12.2 mln ha from the general planted areas, up 624.8 thsd ha compared to 2012.
Including grain and leguminous crops tot total nearly 30% (5.8 mln ha) of the planted areas, down 573.7 thsd ha compared to 2012.
Grains planted areas (buckwheat, millet, rice, peas, sorghum and others) to total nearly 1.5% from the planted areas or 283.1 thsd ha as opposed to 269.1 thsd ha in 2012.
The technical crops planted areas will be planted throughout 5.97 mln ha (30.8%) down 430.8 thsd ha compared to 2012.
As for feed grains, as the Ministry of Agrarian Policy plans, the planted areas will be at the level of 6% (1.2 mln ha) compared to 1.1 ml ha in 2012.
