Russia: winter crops areas perish to total 1.5-2 mln ha
In 2013 in Russia the perished planted areas can total from 1.5 mln to 2 mln ha of winter plantings. The stated forecast was announced by Petr Chekmarev, Director of the Department of crop production, chemization and plant protection of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Director stated, that nearly 1.5 mln ha or 9.5% from the total planted area face bad and thinned condition.
Thus the final situation will depend on the spring weather, and it is good for sowings to have snow on the most territory of the country, specified P.Chekmarev.
The Director reminded, that according to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture winter plantings of the crop 2013 totaled nearly 15.8 mln ha as opposed to 16.3 mln ha year before.
While estimating the condition of winter crops, P.Chekmarev declared, that nearly 58% of them face good rate and 31% - satisfactory.
The Director of the Department also noted the agrarians are about to change the approach to winter plantings and increase their areas.
