Russia: grain imports to reach 1.2 mln tonnes in 2012/13 MY – Ministry of Agriculture
In 2012/13 Russia will import nearly 1.2 mln tonnes of grain, declared Illya Shestakov, the Deputy Head of the Ministry, on January, 31.
I.Shestakov added that the most imports will be from Kazakhstan, which price for grain is more competitive. Meanwhile Russia will probable not import grain from far abroad countries due to its low profitability level.
As for grain imports dynamics, I.Shestakov stated in the first half of the current season the Russian Federation purchased on the foreign markets nearly 486 thsd tonnes of grain as opposed to 324 thsd tonnes in the same period of 2011/12 MY.
At the same time he added that in the second half of 2012/13 MY imports dynamics will grow and the country will import nearly 700-800 thsd tonnes of commodities.
