Ukraine: wheat exports to increase to 6.1 mln tonnes in 2012/13 MY - Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine increased the estimation of possible exports of wheat in 2012/13 MY to 6.1 mln tonnes, stated the press-service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on February 1.
To date, considering the grain stocks entered the stores, the condition of winter plantings of the next year crop, the preliminary exports of wheat have been increased to 6.1 mln tonnes. This is the reasonable approach for the grain domestic resources formation and does not pose a threat for the food safety of Ukraine, stated the Ministry.
As of reminder, previously, the wheat exports potential for 2012/13 MY was estimated at the level of 5.8 mln tonnes.
According to the data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in 2012 the country harvested nearly 15.7 mln tonnes of wheat. Meanwhile, as of January 1 the carry-over stocks in the country totaled 8.6 mln tonnes.
