Ukraine: condition of winter crops areas in 2013 is significantly better than last year - Ministry of Agrarian Policy
As of January 30, 2013, the condition of 96.6% of winter crops planted areas in Ukraine was estimated as good and satisfactory, which is significantly higher than last year (66.8%), stated Ivan Bisyuk, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
He also noted that, despite the fact that in Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv oblasts some planted areas were under the ice covering, the Ministry did not see any threat of crop losses.
Thus, concluded I.Bisyuk, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy confirmed its previously provided forecast for wheat production in 2013 at the level of 22-23 mln tonnes.
