Ukraine: no reasons for imposing the limitations on grain exports – N.Prysyazhnyuk
In the course of systematic dialogue between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and grain trading companies there are clearly defined and agreed the shipment volumes of grains on foreign markets, which do not pose any threat to food security, and therefore the country does not have plans to impose the ban on grain exports, declared Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy, on February 6.
According to him, as of the beginning of January the domestic market stocked nearly 8.6 mln tonnes of wheat. By the end of the current year the country plan to use 5.2 mln tonnes of the grain, including 2.6 mln tonnes - for food needs. Thus, in 2012/13 MY the approximate volume of wheat exports totals 6.1 mln tonnes.
To date, the grain trading companies already exhausted the forecasted export volumes of wheat, agreed in the dialogue with the Government. The situation on the domestic market of grains remained stable. At the same time, trading activity rates in the segment of wheat minimized, and significantly grew in the sector of maize, summed N.Prysyazhnyuk.
