In 2012 Kyrgyzstan reduced grain production by 10.2%
In 2012 grain production (excluding leguminous crops, rice and buckwheat) in Kyrgyzstan totaled 1.334 mln tonnes in clean weight, a decrease of 10.2% compared with the same period of the previous year (or down 151.2 thsd tonnes), said the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic on February 8.
In particular, due to reduction of the planted areas and lowering of the yield, wheat production in Kyrgyzstan decreased by 32.4% - to 540.5 thsd tonnes.
The announcement also noted that due to the adverse weather conditions, in 2012 the general perished areas of grain crops and leguminous plants in Kyrgyzstan totaled 2.6 thsd ha, oilseed areas - 151 ha.
