Ukraine may start planting of early spring crops in early March - Hydrometeorological Center
The condition of soil in the southern and some central regions of Ukraine will allow to agrarians to begin planting early spring crops in the nearest future, declared Nikolai Kulbida, Head of the Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine, on February 18.
As there is almost no snow covering in the southern and central oblasts, it creates the required conditions for early planting of spring crops, which is held every year, he said.
According to him, the beginning of March will be warm enough, but not without short-term periods of cooling.
As for the winter crops, the weather fluctuations did not significantly impact on crop conditions. Some problems may be only in the northern and eastern oblasts, where the Hydrometeorological Center observed long-term formation of ice crust. But the possible damages will be not so significant to affect the general picture, summed N.Kulbida.
