Kazakhstan to reduce the planted areas under wheat
In 2013 the planted areas of agricultural crops in Kazakhstan will total 21.3 mln ha, which almost corresponds to the last year level, declared the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 25.
The planted areas of spring crops are forecasted at the level of 18.5 mln ha. In particular, agrarians will plant grain crops throughout 15.9 mln ha, including wheat - 13.1 mln ha. It is expected some reduction of the planted areas of wheat to the level of 2012 - down 329 thsd ha, or 2%, said the announcement.
The planted areas of rice will reduce by 6 thsd ha (7%), maize for grain - up 5 thsd ha. In the current year the areas under oilseeds will total 1.8 mln ha, forage crops - 3 mln ha.
The abundant rainfall, fell in the first half of the winter, create the required conditions for accumulation of good reserves of soil moisture for the next harvest, which allows making the optimistic forecasts for the harvest in 2013, stressed the document.
