Russia: southern regions began planting spring crops
According to the operative data of the subjects of the Russian Federation, some regions of the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts started planting spring crops. As of March 13, 2013, Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais, Rostov oblast, the Republics of Adygea, Dagestan and Karachay-Cherkessia planted early spring crops throughout the areas of 175.4 thsd ha, or 0.34% of the forecast, declared the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
According to the announcement, in 2013 all types of agricultural households of the Russian Federation plan to plant spring crops throughout the areas of 50.9 mln ha, including spring grains and leguminous crops - 30.3 mln ha.
Also, farms of the reporting regions continue realizing additional fertilizing of winter grain crops, which as of the reporting date was carried out throughout 2.2 mln ha (14% of the areas).
