Russia: export potential of the agricultural sector may be significantly increased at the expense of by-products – Ministry of Agriculture
The exports of Russian agricultural products can be significantly increased at the expense of its re-orientation from agricultural raw materials to supplying of its by-products, declared Nikolai Fedorov, Minister of Agriculture of Russia, on March 13.
He reminded that in 2012 the exports of Russian agricultural products increased by 24.5% to the level of 16.6 bln USD.
The increase was mainly formed by growing of exported grain volumes, but it is better to increase supplying of by-products, and then the country would reach the level of 30 bln USD, he said.
According to the Minister, the possibilities for solving the problem through the promotion of agro-processing are lied in the state program of agricultural development for 2013-2020 years.
