Ukraine: cold March is not a threat for the crop - Hydrometeorological Center
The weather conditions observed in Ukraine in the current month do not pose any threats to the future harvest, declared Nikolai Kulbida, Head of the Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine, on March 18.
In most regions of Ukraine winter crops passed the winter period rather well. The general share of crop areas in poor condition in Ukraine totaled 8-10%, which is completely standard. In some oblasts, the index was slightly higher, particularly in the southern and south-eastern oblasts, he said.
Also N.Kulbida clarified that ice covering was observed in Sumy, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr and Kiev oblasts, and most likely did not cause significant damages to crops.
