Ukraine: grain infrastructure needs serious inflow of investment funds – expert
In connection with the planned increasing of the general harvest of agricultural crops in Ukraine in the coming years, and the volume of their exports, it is necessary to pay special attention to development of the domestic grain infrastructure and logistics, declared Rodion Rybchinskiy, Head of the Business projects department of APK-Inform Agency, on March 19.
By 2025, due to increasing of the yield indices, the general grain harvest in Ukraine may increase by 73% (to 80 mln tonnes), oilseeds – up 32% (to 16 mln tonnes). As for the exports of grains, the expected growth may total nearly 83% - to 62.8 mln tonnes, said the expert.
According to R.Rybchinskiy, in turn, the situation will require the further increasing of the capacities of linear elevators in Ukraine in 2.3 times - to 69 mln tonnes.
It will also require increasing of the effective capacity of the port terminals - from the current level of 39.1 mln tonnes to 57.1 mln tonnes per year, he added.
Generally, the total investment sum required for the effective development of grain infrastructure and logistics in Ukraine by 2025 approximately reaches 8.5 bln USD.
