Ukraine planted spring crops throughout 480 thsd ha – N.Prysyazhnyuk
As of March 19, Ukraine already planted early spring grains and leguminous crops throughout the areas of 480 thsd ha, or 16% of the planned planted areas, declared Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on March 20.
He said that to date six oblasts of Ukraine provide the spring planting campaign, and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea almost completed the planting works.
The Crimea planted early crops throughout 92 thsd ha, or 103% of the plan. Kherson oblast planted early spring crops throughout 84% of the plan, Odessa - 75%, Nikolayev – 71%, Zaporozhye - 18%. Also, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk oblasts began planting works, to date agrarians of the regions planted crops throughout 3% and 2% of the plan, respectively, said the Minister.
While speaking on condition of winter crops, N.Prysyazhnyuk noted that 91.6% of the areas were in good and satisfactory condition, 8.4% - weak and thinned.
The Minister also estimated the areas of possible replanting of winter crops within the range of 300-500 thsd ha.
