Russia planted spring crops throughout 317.5 thsd ha

As of March 20, the North Caucasian and Southern Federal Districts planted spring crops throughout the areas of 317.5 thsd ha, or 0.6% of the general areas, reported the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Also, agrarians provided additional fertilizing of winter crops throughout over 3.2 mln ha (20% of the planted areas), an increase of 2.6 mln ha compared with 2012 index.

According to Petr Chekmarev, Director of the Department of crop production, chemization and plant protection of the Ministry of Agriculture, 13.9 mln ha of winter crops were in good and satisfactory condition (88%), but 1.9 mln ha - poor condition (12%).
