According to the forecasts of Oil World, in the season-2013/14 the Black Sea market of sunflower seed may face some reduction of prices. At the same time, the expected increase of the oilseed exports by the countries of Southern and Central Europe will provide a notable pressure on the prices in the reporting period, in the terms of the further increase of sunflower seed production in the region, and the lack of processing capacities. In particular, in the current year the general harvest of sunflower seed in Romania may reach 1.68 mln tonnes (as opposed to 1.36 mln tonnes in 2012/13 MY), in Bulgaria - 1.55 mln tonnes (1.35 mln tonnes), Hungary - 1.4 mln tonnes (1.3 mln tonnes).

Besides, the forecasted growth of sunflower seed production in the season-2013/14 in Ukraine and Russia - to 9.4 mln tonnes (8.8 mln tonnes) and 8.6 mln tonnes (7.99 mln tonnes) respectively, will provide rather negative impact on price formation.

It is also worth noting that in 2013/14 MY there is expected the record large-scale production of sunflower seed in the world largest importer of the oilseed - Turkey (1.45 mln tonnes). As a result, in the new season the demand from the country can considerably decrease, which will also bring changes to the price formation process in the segment.
