In August Russia to export nearly 3 mln tonnes of grains – Rusagrotrans
In August 2013 Russian grain exports may increase to the level of nearly 3 mln tonnes, forecasted Igor Pavensky, head of the analysis sector of strategic marketing department of CJSC "Rusagrotrans", on August 7.
He also noted that the index will exceed the result of last year August (2.76 mln tonnes), and remain at the level of August 2011 (3.28 mln tonnes).
It is expected that in August 2013, after resumption of transshipment through the port of Tuapse, the share of deep-water ports in the export structure of Russian grains will increase to 35-38%, said the expert.
I.Pavensky also reminded that in July 2013 Russia supplied 2.4 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, which exceeded the index for July 2012 (2.062 mln tonnes), and slightly below the export volumes in July 2011 (2.52 mln tonnes).
The expert stressed that in July the main shipment of Russian grains was carried out through small ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin and Taman port. The share of Novorossiysk port totaled 21% only (509.6 thsd tonnes), and transshipment operations in the Tuapse port were absent at all.
As a result, I.Pavensky stressed that in recent years the share of deep-water ports in the Russian grain export shipments started falling. In August 2013 the deep-water ports may ship nearly 1.05-1.15 mln tonnes of grains. In August 2012 the index totaled 1 mln tonnes, in August 2011 - 1.1 mln tonnes, said the expert.
Generally, I.Pavensky forecasted that in the current season Russia will be able to supply nearly 22 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, as opposed to 16.4 mln tonnes in 2012/13 MY.
