By late autumn, Ukraine to export 8.5-9 mln tonnes of grains - Ministry of Agrarian Policy
According to forecasts, by December 1 Ukraine will supply 8.5-9 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, said Vitaly Sabluk, Director of the department of economic development of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on September 25.
He noted that as of the reporting date, grain exports from Ukraine exceeded the same period of last marketing year by 600 thsd tonnes.
According V.Sabluk, the record forecasts for grain harvesting and exports are already confirmed: Ukraine harvested nearly 33 mln tonnes of early grains, the harvest of maize and late grains is expected to reach 28 mln tonnes.
He noted that the domestic need totals 28.4 mln tonnes. Therefore, larger volumes of grains of Ukrainian origin are subject to be exported than used for the domestic consumption.
V.Sabluk also added that to date agrarians provide harvesting works of maize in the southern regions of the country. According to forecasts, in the current season Ukraine in terms of maize exports will reach the second position behind the USA, but ahead of Argentina.
