As of October 10, Ukraine planted winter grains throughout 5.1 mln ha
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, as of October 10 Ukraine planted winter grain crops throughout the areas of 5.1 mln ha, against 6.7 mln ha on the same date last year. In particular, in the period of October 7-13 agrarians planted grains throughout 1.6 mln ha, as opposed to 1.2 mln ha in the same period of 2012.
In particular, agrarians planted winter wheat throughout 4.4 mln ha (66% of the forecast; down 25% compared with 2012), barley - 451 thsd ha (38%; down 20%), and rye - 210 thsd ha (70%; down 29%).
The most significant gap of the planting campaign rates compared with the same date last year was observed in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Donetsk oblast - 74% and 60% respectively, among the regions of Ukraine.
