Russia: as of December 1, grain carry-over stocks totaled 34.1 mln tonnes – Rosstat
As of December 1, 2013, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 34.1 mln tonnes, an increase of 4.5 mln tonnes (or up 15.2%) compared with the index on the same date in 2012, declared the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on December 17.
The carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations increased by 5.6 mln tonnes (up 33.5%) compared with December 1, 2012 – to 22.4 mln tonnes. The harvesting and processing organizations decreased the rate by 1.1 mln tonnes (down 8.8%) - to 11.7 mln tonnes.
In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in the harvesting and processing organizations - 7.511 mln tonnes, down 12.3% compared with the same period last year (including milling wheat – 5.073 mln tonnes, down 18.2%).
Rye stocks totaled 717 thsd tonnes (including 585 thsd tonnes of milling rye), down 1.5% compared with the previous year. Barley stocks reduced to the level of 1.458 mln tonnes (down 9.6%), rice – 125 thsd tonnes (down 32.2%), millet – 19 thsd tonnes (down 56.1%).
At the same time, as of the reported date maize stocks totaled 1.486 mln tonnes (up 9.6%), oats – 168 thsd tonnes (up 5.3%), buckwheat – 100 thsd tonnes (up 3%).
