Ukraine supplied 9.5 mln tonnes of maize on foreign markets – N.Prisyazhnyuk
Since the beginning of 2013/14 MY, and as of January 1, 2014, Ukraine already supplied 9.5 mln tonnes of new crop maize on foreign markets, or more than half of the estimated volumes of the grain exports in the current season, declared Nikolai Prisyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on January 5.
At the same time, he noted that the reporting volumes of maize exports exceeded the index on the same date last season by 3 mln tonnes.
In particular, the head of the Ministry noted that the exports of maize totaled 3.6 mln tonnes both in November and December.
N.Prisyazhnyuk added that Ukraine will continue developing the high export dynamics even after the New Year holidays. The general export volumes of maize will total nearly 19-20 mln tonnes, which is a record for Ukraine, and will allow to the country to take the 3rd position among the leading suppliers of the grain type in the world.
N.Prisyazhnyuk also noted that maize has a high demand on the world market, so Ukraine will continue expanding its markets and finding new ones in 2014.
