Ukraine: achievements and antirecords of the dairy market
According to analysts of APK-Inform Agency, in 2013 the dairy sector in Ukraine achieved the production growth at the level of 3-4% for the following items: liquid processed milk (the record during 10 recent years), butter, cheeses of all species and curd cheese. We should note that if the first two commodities are almost completely consumed at the territory of the country, then the significant share of cheeses (nearly 24% in 2013) is exported from Ukraine.
At the same time, in 2013 the production of powdered milk was less positive: there was 6% reduction of the production volumes, and set the antirecord for the previous 10 years.
Rather low marketability of milk raw material is another negative fact of the reporting sector. According to estimations of APK-Inform Agency, in Ukraine only about half of the milk production goes to further processing. But the major volumes of marketable milk go for production of all types of cheeses and curd cheese - 18% of the general milk yield, and butter production – 16%.
