Ukraine: fluctuations of UAH/USD rates to minimally affect the cost of food – N.Prysyazhnyuk
Fluctuations of UAH/USD rates, which are observed during recent days on the interbank foreign exchange market, will have the minimum impact on the cost of food products in Ukraine, as most of the consumed food is produced directly in the country, announced Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on February 11.
But he noted that the UAH/USD exchange rate fluctuations may lead to increasing of the prices for mineral fertilizers and plant protecting agents, which are mainly imported to Ukraine. As a result, such development may lead to increasing of the prime cost of production of grains and oilseeds of the new crop.
