Basis for Ukrainian maize is at the historically high level – expert
During two recent months the price of Ukrainian maize reached the record high level compared with the nearest futures for the US grain, declared Boris Prikhodko, Managing partner of the project Trade Advisor, on February 19.
According to him, the increasing number of maize offers on the world market may cause weakening of the basis and its fall by 10-15 USD/t, i.e. "if the Chicago Mercantile Exchange continues making price adjustments, and the May futures reach 460 cents per bushel, it is not the fact that the price for Ukrainian maize will move with the same intensity, as the prices on CBOT”.
