Ukraine has significant unrealized potential of the grain market – Ukrainian Grain Association
Due to intensive growth of the production volumes, during 15 recent years Ukraine significantly strengthened its positions on the global grain market, and in the current season the country reached the 8th position in the list of the major countries-producers of grains, declared Vladimir Klimenko, President of Ukrainian Grain Association, on March 4 during his presentation at the first international conference "Ukrainian grain to the world!" held in Hong Kong.
The speaker noted that the yield indices of grain crops serve as the main factor, which will increase the world grain production in the future.
The countries-leaders in grain production largely realized the potential of yield of the major crops in their own terms. At the same time, Ukraine has a significant advantage in the reporting field, since the average yield indices of the main grains reach 50-60% of the potential indices only, said V.Klimenko.
Development of agricultural technologies allows continually increasing the yield indices, and in the future Ukraine can produce more than 115 mln tonnes of grains and pulses, 70% of which to be supplied on the world market, concluded the expert.
