Ukraine: agricultural sector is strategically important for both Ukraine and the EU – S.Fule
The EU recognizes the strategic importance of the Ukrainian agro-industrial sector for both Ukraine and countries of the European Union, said Stefan Fule, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, on March 26 in Kiev during a meeting with Igor Schwayka, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
"We understand the strategic importance of agriculture for both Ukraine and the European Union. We are ready to send to Ukraine experts of veterinary, sanitary and phytosanitary fields in order to improve these areas and to share the European experience so that Ukraine would able to export more to the European market of agricultural products," Stefan Fule noted.
In turn, I.Schwayka stressed on the need to develop certain and understandable rules of work in the agrarian sector of Ukraine. He noted that understanding of the key role of the agricultural sector in the process of European integration and in terms of the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is working on the elaboration of clear and precise rules in the sector. The task is to create the most favorable conditions in which agrarian business and the government will work together.
