As of April 1, 2014, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 19.4 mln tonnes, an increase of 1.5 mln tonnes (or up 8.1%) compared with the index on the same date in 2013, declared the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on April 17.

The carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations increased by 1.8 mln tonnes (up 20.2%) compared with April 1, 2013 – to 10.7 mln tonnes. The harvesting and processing organizations decreased the rate by 0.3 mln tonnes (down 3.9%) - to 8.7 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in the harvesting and processing organizations - 5.661 mln tonnes, down 7.1% compared with the same period last year (including milling wheat – 4.488 mln tonnes, down 7.5%).

Rye stocks totaled 574 thsd tonnes (including 466 thsd tonnes of milling rye), up 10.5% compared with the previous year. Barley stocks reduced to the level of 1.051 mln tonnes (down 5.1%), rice – 48 thsd tonnes (down 45%), millet – 19 thsd tonnes (down 39.9%).
