Russia exported more than 3.2 mln tonnes of grains and its by-products through the ports of Krasnodar Krai in the Ist quarter of 2014, up almost 5 times compared with the last year results, declared the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) on April 17.

According to the announcement, increasing of wheat shipments to the level of 2 mln tonnes against 128.6 thsd tonnes in the same period in 2013, provided a significant increasing of the general exports of grains. Egypt was the biggest importer of the Russian grain. The country imported over 700 thsd tonnes of wheat. Also, Russia supplied large-scale volumes to Yemen, Libya, Morocco and Jordan.

In the reporting period the exports of groat products increased in 2.5 times to 23 thsd tonnes, against 9.2 thsd tonnes. Syria, Lebanon and the neighboring countries - Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, became the main buyers of Russian groats.
