Ukraine: political tensions not affected grain export rates from the sea ports
Peaking of the political situation in the southern region of Ukraine did not affect operation processes of the deep-sea ports in Odessa oblast, which continue working in normal mode, declared the press-service of State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
According to the monitoring realized by experts of APK-Inform Agency, to date Odessa Commercial Sea Port, Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk, grain terminals of TIS-Zerno and Borivage LLC continue cargo handling operations and stocking commodities. It is worth noting that in the period of January 1 -May 1 of 2014 the export volumes of grain commodities from the reporting ports increased by 85% compared with the same period last year, and reached 6.63 mln tonnes (3.59 mln tonnes).
As for the ports of the Azov Sea, grain loading and unloading works in Mariupol and Berdyansk Commercial Sea Ports are realized in accordance with the planned timetable, any delays in delivery of products are not observed. At the same time, experts of UkrTransAgro LLC have concerns about realization of grain shipments in May 2014, due to the unstable situation with civil unrest in Mariupol area. Also, grain market operators informed that reduction of flow rates of new consignments can be caused by decreasing of trading activity in Ukraine in terms of USD/UAH fluctuations.
