Ukraine planted spring grains and pulses throughout nearly 7 mln ha
As of May 8, 2014, agrarians of Ukraine already planted spring grains and pulses (taking into account maize) throughout the areas of 6.805 mln ha, or 82% of the plan, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
At the same time, on the same date last year Ukraine planted grains and pulses throughout 7.131 mln ha.
In particular, Ukraine planted maize – 4.077 mln ha (79%), buckwheat – 47 thsd ha (28%), millet – 42 thsd ha (35%), rice – 7 thsd ha (30%).
Also, the sunflower seed planted areas reached 3.595 mln ha (83%), soybeans – 1.103 mln ha (67%).
