On May 20 Ukraine to receive the first tranche of the EU bailout
On May 20, 2014, the first tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Union at 100 mln EUR will arrive to Ukraine, when Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission, visits Kiev to discuss ways of the further aid to Ukraine, declared Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, spokeswoman of the European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, on May 19.
According to her, the reporting tranche is a part of the aid package of 1.6 bln EUR, while the second tranche will come when Ukraine completes the process of ratification of the memorandum of understanding signed last week in Brussels during a joint meeting of the Government of Ukraine and the board of the European Commission. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will ratify the memorandum in the nearest future.
