In 2013 the share of grain cargoes in the general cargo traffic of the Ukrainian sea ports totaled 19.4%, while in 2012 the index totaled 19%, in 2011 - 10.2%, in 2010 – 10.9%, declared Andrei Shklyar, Head of the analytical department of the Centre for Transport Strategies, on May 30.
He noted that the grain is the only kind of commodities, which shows the stable growing dynamics of shipment volumes. In terms of the maximum mobilization, in 2013 the peak shipment volumes of grains in the ports of Ukraine reached 4.6 mlnn tonnes per month.
Also, A.Shklyar noted that if in 2010/11 MY the Ukrainian sea ports exported 14.9 mln tonnes of grains and oilseeds (loading of the port capacities totaled 40%), then in 2013/14 MY the reporting index may reach 36.6 mln tonnes. At the same time, if previously the loading index of the port facilities was forecasted at 87%, then to date without the Crimean ports the index grows to 96%.
