Russia almost completed planting spring grains
As of June 4, 2014, Russian agrarians almost completed the planting campaign of the major spring grains, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation
Thus, agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the areas of 12.7 mln ha (or 96.9% of the planned areas), up 1 mln ha compared with June 4, 2013; spring barley – 8.5 mln ha (96.5% of the forecast); maize grain – 2.5 mln ha (97.5% of the forecast).
Generally, as of the reporting date the planted areas of spring grains reached 29.8 mln ha (93.4% of the forecast).
