As of June 1, 2014, agricultural organizations of all categories in Russia (agricultural organizations, farmers, the population) planted spring grains and pulses throughout the areas of 28.1 mln ha (an increase of 5.8% compared with the corresponding date of the previous year), sunflower seed – 6.3 mln ha (down 3.3%), reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on June 18.
Taking into account the remained areas of winter grains and pulses, as of June 1 the general planted areas of grains and pulses at agricultural organizations totaled 30 mln ha, which corresponds to the previous year level.
Furthermore, agricultural enterprises of the Crimean Federal District planted spring grains and leguminous crops (including maize) throughout 97.9 thsd ha (down 32.2% compared with the same date of the previous year), sunflower seed - 76.3 thsd ha (up 0.4%).
