Russia started harvesting maize for grain. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, agrarians of Voronezh oblast began harvesting the crop. In addition, agrarians of Tambov oblast and the Republic of Adygea started harvesting sunflower seed, and Tambov oblast started harvesting soybeans.

As of August 18, Russia harvested grain crops throughout the areas of 21 mln ha, or 44.9% of the planned harvested areas (in 2013 – 20.7 mln ha). The produced volumes reached 65.1 mln tonnes of grains in bunker weight (in 2013 - 53 mln tonnes), with the yield of 3.11 t/ha (in 2013 – 2.56 t/ha).

In particular, agrarians harvested winter and spring wheat throughout 12.6 mln ha, or 49.7% of the harvested areas (in 2013 - 12.3 mln ha). The produced volumes totaled 44.4 mln tonnes (in 2013 - 36.2 mln tonnes) with the average yield of 3.53 t/ha (in 2013 – 2.93 t/ha).

Russia harvested winter and spring barley throughout 4.9 mln ha, or 51.7% of the planned areas (in 2013 - 4.6 mln ha). The produced volumes reached 13.4 mln tonnes (in 2013 - 9.8 mln tonnes) with the average yield of 2.74 t/ha (in 2013 – 2.13 t/ha).

In addition, agrarians harvested winter rapeseed throughout 313.6 thsd ha, or 25.9% of the harvested areas (in 2013 - 257.1 thsd ha). The production totaled 553.5 thsd tonnes (in 2013 - 490.8 thsd tonnes) with the yield of 1.76 t/ha (in 2013 – 1.65 t/ha).

Also, agrarians continue the planting campaign of winter grains for the harvest-2015. As of the reporting date, Russia planted winter crops throughout 192.1 thsd ha, or 1.2% of the planned areas.
