According to the polling conducted by APK-Inform experts, agrarians of the northern region of Ukraine have some concerns on the qualitative conditions of maize.

So, agricultural producers of Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kiev and Sumy oblasts expect for some decrease of the yield by 25-40%, due to the deficit of available moisture content in the soil during grain forming and ripening processes. The prolonged drought, which was observed in the reporting oblasts since the second decade of July 2014, became the major reason for such crops development.

The market operators do not exclude the possibility that in the nearest future the continued dry weather will lead to partial losses of the grain areas.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, the planted areas under maize in the northern region of the country total 1.132 mln ha.
