Ukrainian hydrometeorological center lowered the forecast of maize production in the country by 1 mln tonnes, announced Tatiana Adamenko, Head of the department of agrometeorology of the hydrometeorological center, on September 5.

In particular, the expert noted that the reporting forecast was lowered from the level of 29 mln tonnes, to 28 mln tonnes.

According T.Adamenko, the hot weather in late July - early August affected maize areas development. As a result, in the current year the grain yield will total nearly 5.8-6 t/ha, which is below the expected rate.

At the same time, the expert noted the current favorable weather conditions in the country for harvesting of late crops, and absence of any need for further grain drying.
