In Donetsk oblast the general harvest of early grains reached 2.117 mln tonnes, but agrarians failed to harvest nearly 300-400 thsd tonnes of grains throughout 15 thsd ha, declared Aleksandr Dzigim, Acting Director of the Department of agro-industrial development of Donetsk oblast state administration, on September 19.
According to him, in the current year the average grain yield increased by 0.68 t/ha compared with 2013 - to 3.54 t/ha.
Also, A.Dzigim noted that in the nearest future may the prices of bread may increase by 10% due to growing transport costs. Generally, to date the food security situation in the oblast is quite controlled, he added.
