In 2015 the planted areas of all agricultural crops in Russia will total 79.4 mln ha, forecasted Nikolai Frdorov, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, on October 9.
In particular, the Minister noted that in 2015 the planted areas of pulses will face the most significant increase - up 162.9 thsd ha compared with the current year index, to 1.791 mln ha.
Also, Russia will increase the areas under maize for grain – up 14 thsd ha, to 2.749 mln ha; millet - up 12.7 thsd ha, to 530.5 thsd ha; rice - up 7.8 thsd ha, to 204 thsd ha; spring rapeseed - up 16.5 thsd ha, to 947.3 thsd ha; and sugar beet - up 32.4 thsd ha, to 950.6 thsd ha.
As for the planted areas of winter crops for the harvest-2015, N.Fedorov said that the areas are forecast at 16.5 mln ha, up 0.5 mln ha compared with last year.
To date, agrarians planted winter crops throughout 13.6 mln ha, said the Head of the Ministry.
