Belarus: agricommodities production increased by 2.1%

In January-October of 2014, Belarus produced the agricultural products at the sum of 116.5 trillion BYR which exceeds previous year rate as of the same period by 2.1%, declared the National statistical committee of Belarus on November 18.

According to the announcement, as of November 1, 2014, winter crops were planted throughout 1.57 mln ha, up 1.6% compared with the last year rate.

Meanwhile, the winter rapeseed planting areas decreased by 6.3%, and totaled 415.2 thsd ha.

As of the reporting date, the grains and pulses (without maize) general production in bunker weight reached 9.27 mln tonnes (132.7% as of November 1, 2013), sugarbeet – 3.59 mln tonnes (92%). Besides, there was prepared 1.1 mln tonnes of velour grasses, 11.2 mln tonnes of haylage, 16 mln tonnes of silage.

In January–October of 2014, the agricultural organizations realized 1.21 mln tonnes of cattle and birds (in live weight) for slaughter, down 2.6% compared with the last year rate. Besides, the milk production totaled 5.27 mln tonnes (up 1.1%), eggs – 2.36 bln pieces (up 2.7%).

As of November 1, 2014, the bovine cattle number totaled 4.2 mln heads (up 0.4%), including cows – 1.4 mln heads (up 1.6%). Meanwhile, the pig stock decreased by 17.5%, and totaled 2.5 mln heads.
