As of December 1, 2014, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 38.6 mln tonnes, an increase of 4.5 mln tonnes (or up 13.1%) compared with the index on the same date in 2013, declared the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on December 18.

The carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations increased by 8.7% compared with December 1, 2013 – to 24.4 mln tonnes. The harvesting and processing organizations increased the rate by 21.7% - to 14.2 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in the harvesting and processing organizations - 9.366 mln tonnes, up 25.3% compared with the same period last year, including milling wheat – 6.863 mln tonnes (up 21.1%).

Rye stocks totaled 717 thsd tonnes, up 2.7% compared with the previous year, including milling rye – 587 thsd tonnes (up 3.9%). Barley stocks grew to the level of 2.309 mln tonnes (up 59.3%), rice – 175 thsd tonnes (up 13.8%), millet – 30 thsd tonnes (up 56.4%).

At the same time, buckwheat stocks faced a significant decrease to 60 thsd tonnes (down 39.5%), maize – 1.281 mln tonnes (down 14.3%), oats - 162 thsd tonnes (down 3.2%).
