Ukraine will be able to expand the geography of grain foreign supplies, after improving qualitative indices of the commodity, declared Dmitry Prikhodko, Economist of the Investment Centre Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO).

According to him, Ukrainian grain customers are completely satisfied with its price, but the quality leaves much to be desired. In particular, it concerns corn quality.

According to the expert, the main problem is that while the Ukrainian grain passes all stages of cleaning, drying and transportation, delivery from the port to the ultimate customer, it often turns to dust. But importers continue purchasing corn from Ukraine, as its price is very attractive for them. Of course, it is a direct signal for the Ukrainians to develop production of the grain for exports. To date many companies in Ukraine are working to improve the quality of grain drying, and reduce its damaging during cargo operations. However, they are not so much to meet the growing demand of importers of the Ukrainian grain in high-quality products, said D.Prikhodko.

You can become acquainted with more detailed information about the Ukrainian grain exports within the Third round of the V Ukrainian Grain Congress, which takes place in Washington, D.C., on March 23-26, 2015.
