According to the monitoring carried out by APK-Inform experts, in October-December of 2014 the shipment volumes of maize fell to 5.116 mln tonnes, against 8.368 mln tonnes in the same period last year. In particular, in October 2014 Ukraine exported 1.106 mln tonnes of maize (1.476 mln tonnes in October 2013), in November 2014 - 2.202 mln tonnes (3.451 mln tonnes), in December 2014 - 1.808 mln tonnes (3.44 mln tonnes).
According to the market operators, large-scale maize production in the major countries-producers became the major reason for such situation, which contributed to the further development of downward trend in the grain sector, demand reduction and, as a result, falling of the exports volumes from Ukraine.
