To date the import ban on food products, imposed by Russia against a number of Western countries, is nonproductive, declared Alexei Kudrin, ex-Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, on January 21.
According to him, there are two models of actions on the market in the current conditions. First, it is necessary to contribute to lowering of the prices using market methods only. It means to remove barriers, even reduce the import duties. Because the RUR devaluation creates a barrier, the imports became more expensive, therefore it is necessary to cancel the ban and reduce the import duties, said the former head of the Ministry.
The other way - is not to remove the reporting import ban, but to limit prices, and allow to the prosecutor's office to control realization of the price limitations. It is quite bad method because dramatically increases the burden on businesses, and contains corruption component, concluded A.Kudrin.
