According to preliminary data, in 2014 the general grain harvest in Russia totaled 103.8 mln tonnes in clean weight, an increase of 12.4% compared with 2013 (92.4 mln tonnes), announced the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on January 19.
Thus, the wheat harvest totaled 59 mln tonnes, up 13.3% compared with 2013 volumes, barley - 19.98 mln tonnes (up 29.9%). At the same time, the harvest of maize for grain fell by 4.7% - to 11.09 mln tonnes, rye - down 2.5% to 3.274 mln tonnes, buckwheat - down 20.6% to 662 thsd tonnes.
In 2014 the production of rice increased by 12% (to 1.047 mln tonnes), millet – up 16.4% (to 487 thsd tonnes), oats – up 6.8% (to 5.265 mln tonnes).
In 2014 the production of rapeseed in Russia totaled 1.454 mln tonnes (up 4.4%), soybeans – 2.536 mln tonnes (up 55%).
The harvest of sunflower seed fell by 17% compared with the previous year, and totaled 8.764 mln tonnes.
