Ukraine plans to increase grain exports from the level of 37 mln tonnes in 2014 to 70 mln tonnes in 2020, declared Oleksiy Pavlenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on January 23.

According to him, after the record harvest volumes at 63.8 mln tonnes in 2014, Ukraine plans to reach the index of 100 mln tonnes by 2020.

Agricultural crops exports are the main source of income for the country. The Ministry expects for the further opening of the EU market for Ukrainian agricultural products. At the same time, China is one of the key strategic markets for Ukrainian commodities. The Ministry is working out opportunities of delivery of agricultural products to the countries of Asia and Africa. Using to the EU standards is important not only for the exports to the EU, but also gives access to the world markets for Ukraine, said the Minister.

He added that to date the Ministry is working together with the European Commission to reform the veterinary requirements, and the food safety regulations and legislation.
