According to the January estimations of the USDA, in 2014 the general world production of grains totaled 1.996 bln tonnes, including 62.3 mln tonnes (3.1%) produced in Ukraine. The share of Ukraine in the global production continued showing systematic upward trend. For example, in 2010 the share of Ukrainian grains in the world production volume totaled 2.2% (38.3 mln tonnes from 1748.5 mln tonnes).

Also, the export rates of Ukrainian grains developed quite rapidly. The USDA estimated the export potential of Ukrainian grain market in the current season at 31.7 mln tonnes, or 10.3% of the world exports (307.3 mln tonnes). In 2012/13 MY the share of Ukrainian grains in the world exports totaled 8.5%, and in 2013/14 MY - 9.9%. According to APK-Inform analysts, in the current season Ukraine can export over 34.1 mln tonnes of grains, or nearly 11% of the world exports.

According to many experts, Ukraine has the key role in supplying the world grain market, as the potential of grain production in the country is only half used, and the domestic consumption remains at relatively stable level, which allows increasing the export volumes.
